Muckleford Forest Friends Group focuses on the natural and cultural values of this forest. The group comprises people living in and near the Muckleford Forest. Together members of the group have started some citizen science projects in the Muckleford Forest including:
- setting up a series of post-burn monitoring points
- undertaking habitat hectare sample surveys in the Maldon Historic Reserve (Gowar area)
- individual recording of species observed in particular parts of the forest, including data entry into the Victorian Biodiversity Database
- preparing information on species to contribute to Fire Operations Plan being prepared by DELWP.
The group is interested in different approaches to planning for fire, biodiversity, and protection of human life and settlements.
